Comedian Chris D'Elia Responds To Accusations Of Sexual Misconduct With Underage Girls

He plays a child predator in 'You'.

Comedian and a recurring star on Netflix’s You, Chris D’Elia, is facing a barrage of sexual harassment and misconduct accusations that involve soliciting nudes and grooming underage girls.

While on the topic of celebrity scandals, The GOAT team talk about the JK Rowling/anti-trans debacle on ‘It’s Been A Big Day For…’ below:

This all began when a woman named Simone Rossi started a Twitter thread calling out the irony of casting Chris D’Elia for his role in You – he plays a child predator in the second season – before sharing screenshots of an email conversation between herself and an account allegedly used by the comedian.

Stating that Chris D’Elia, who was twice Rossi’s age at the time of the alleged conversation, was trying to groom her and wasn’t the only underage girl he went after, the screenshots of the conversation included requests for photos and to meet up. There’s also one exchange where D’Elia allegedly asked Rossi, “Can we make out?”

Rossi’s Twitter thread quickly went viral and several other women soon came out with similar accusations against Chris D’Elia and how he allegedly tried to also “groom” them while knowing they were underage at the time.

According to the many allegations that came out after Rossi’s Twitter thread, D’Elia supposedly had a pattern of predatory behaviour that involved using social media and email to contact underage female fans. He allegedly sometimes asks for photos (sometimes nudes), requests for sex, or invites them backstage or to his hotel.

In addition to the avalanche of accusations from several women, many comedians have also chimed in on the conversation and alluded that knowledge of Chris D’Elia going after underage girls was known within comedy circles in the form of scathing jokes about him and his role in You.

Following all these accusations of sexual misconduct involving underage girls, Chris D’Elia has issued a statement to TMZ denying the many allegations while also apologising for his “lifestyle.” This is his full statement:

“I know I have said and done things that might have offended people during my career, but I have never knowingly pursued any underage women at any point. All of my relationships have been both legal and consensual and I have never met or exchanged any inappropriate photos with the people who have tweeted about me.

“That being said, I really am truly sorry. I was a dumb guy who ABSOLUTELY let myself get caught up in my lifestyle. That’s MY fault. I own it. I’ve been reflecting on this for some time now and I promise I will continue to do better.”
