Come Cringe At This ‘7th Heaven’ Star Who Gave Ivan Milat A Shoutout On Cameo

“We need more people in the world like you."

If you aren’t across Cameo, set some time aside and take a deep dive. It’s a very weird and wonderful website where you can pay all kinds of ‘celebs’ to send you a custom video message. However, this week – Cameo took a rather cringeworthy turn when someone fooled a 7th Heaven star into giving Australia’s most notorious serial killer, Ivan Milat, a friendly shoutout.

Australian comedian Tom Armstrong recently took to TikTok to explain his prank, asking his followers “do you think I could get an American celebrity to shoutout Australia’s most notorious serial killer?”

He then shared an image of Beverly Mitchell, who played Lucy Camden on mid ‘00s family drama series 7th Heaven and proceeded to play her Cameo message. Warning: this will induce serious cringe.

“Hey Ivan, not many people pick up hitchhikers anymore but you really helped out the backpacker gang,” Mitchell began. “And you belong in 7th Heaven.”

“Thank you,” she continued. “We need more people in the world like you. So, Ivan Milat – I hope I said it right – sending you lots of love and thank you again for being such a big fan, and for being awesome, and being you.”

ICYMI, Ivan Milat was an Australian serial killer who was convicted of murdering seven backpackers in 1996.

Speaking of TikTok, hear about how it’s literally saving lives below:

Beverly Mitchell’s heartfelt shoutout to Milat is awkward to say the least – but it’s not the first time a celeb has been duped into sending virtual love to the wrong place.

In 2019, Public Enemy rapper Flavor Flav was fooled into sending a personalised message to disgraced Cardinal George Pell.

“Yo, George Pell – I gotta say, happy retirement my man” Flav said in the video. “I know you ran a boys choir, and all of the boys on the choir respected you, and collected you.”

George Pell was found guilty in December 2018 by a jury and convicted of five crimes relating to the abuse of two choirboys in 1996 when he was the Arch-Bishop of Melbourne. This year, Pell walked free from prison and had all his convictions quashed following an appeal to the High Court of Australia.

Not sure Flavor Flav, or Beverly Mitchell, knew who they were sending their support to but it’s a lesson in always Googling someone’s name before you give them a shoutout.
