Can Someone Please Tell Me Why Grimes Thinks Global Warming Is Good?

Welcome to oblivion.

Look, we’ve all accepted by now that Grimes is up to some weird shit. She’s been living on a different planet to the rest of us for a while now, to the point where we weren’t sure if she was pregnant or just being arty. She’s pregnant, by the way, and that kid is already more enlightened than I will ever be.

Her latest venture though, is to let the world know that we should definitely stop panicking about the future because Grimes reckons that global warming is actually a good thing.

Almost a year ago, Grimes announced that her fifth album would be called Miss_Anthropocene. At the time, in typical Grimes fashion, she gave this description of what we could expect:

“It’s fun. I want to make climate change fun. People don’t care about it, because we’re being guilted. I see the polar bear and want to kill myself. No one wants to look at it, you know? I want to make a reason to look at it. I want to make it beautiful.”

She also said it would be full of “pro-apocalypse PSAs,” so maybe we should have seen this coming.

As fun as climate change with Grimes sounds, people living on planet Earth haven’t exactly loved it. Probably because climate change is actually a terrifying but who am I ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I don’t understand why Grimes thought global warming was a good thing, and I don’t understand why the several marketing directors thought this was a fine thing to put out in the world. There were a lot of people involved in this decision, and none of them thought “hmmm, this might backfire spectacularly.”

Maybe their end goal was just to get people talking, in which case they’ve succeeded. The flaw in the plan though is that nobody’s saying anything good.
