Camila Cabello Took Her Damn Time Addressing Her Use Of The N-Word

It's not just one post.

I dream of the day that people won’t have to apologise for saying the n-word anymore, because nobody who shouldn’t be saying it finally stops saying it. For now, the latest star to apologise for using the n-word is Camila Cabello.

When I first heard that she’s apologised, I thought it was for a single incident, but hoo boy was I wrong on that front. A Twitter thread exposing all of the racist posts she’d made on her Tumblr in 2012 – when she was 15 – had been circulating this week, prompting Camila to post an apology.

“When I was younger, I used language that I’m deeply ashamed of and will regret forever. I was uneducated and ignorant and once I became aware of the history and the weight and the true meaning behind this horrible language, I was deeply embarrassed I ever used it.”

“I’m 22 now, I’m an adult and I’ve grown and learned and am conscious and aware of the history and the pain it carries in a way I wasn’t before.”

Camila has previously denied calling her old Fifth Harmony bandmate, Normani, the n-word. Who knew, it turns out you can have multiple scandals involving that word. And even if Camila didn’t use it against Normani, her fans certainly have

It’s good she apologised I guess, but these posts aren’t new. They’re nearly eight years old, and she’s been pretty silent on them until now.

It’s only been about four months since Camila Cabello’s boyfriend, Shawn Mendes, had to apologise for pretty much the exact same thing. Except his shitty apology which basically came down to him saying “lol sorry I let my mates borrow my phone

So lesson learned, everybody. For the love of everything, don’t use racist language and maybe you won’t have to apologise for it.
