Britney Spears' Conservatorship Isn't Just Fuelling #FreeBritney, It's Costing Her Millions

The plot thickens.

Britney Spears’ conservatorship has become quite the talk of the town ever since TikTokers found out about it.

While the popstar’s conservatorship has been news for many years now, it’s reached popularity as a result of TikTokers sharing their conspiracy theories on the ever-so-popular platform. Now, fans are hungry for more information and we’ve got an update that’s guaranteed to upset you.

We spoke about Britney Spears on this episode of It’s Been A Big Day For…

Britney Spears’ conservatorship is not only restricting Britney from having access to her own assets, but its also costing her a literal fortune. According to E! News, new court documents have revealed that her ongoing conservatorship cost Britney Spears $1,202,504.30 USD in 2019. To top it all off, Britney Spears’ father, Jamie Spears, earned $128,000 for his role as conservator.

Jamie Spears has temporarily stepped down from the role of conservator in September of last year, citing “personal health reasons” as the main reason. In the meantime, Britney’s care manager, Jodi Montgomery, is filling in the role.

The same court documents also reveal that Britney Spears is given a certain weekly allowance to spend at her own discretion. In addition to this, Britney’s other expenses include travel (to locations like Turks and Miami) and residential expenses. Brintey Spears took to Instagram earlier this year to let her followers know that she “burnt” her “gym down,” so perhaps funding went to fixing that.

It should be noted that expense reports are filed every year as part of Britney’s ongoing conservatorship. And these conservatorship documents also reveal that Britney Spears has cut back on spending, significantly. In 2016, Britney Spears spent $120,000 on massages and has since reeled back.

In a recent interview, Britney Spears’ dad, Jamie Spears denounced the #FreeBritney movement and the negativity surrounding the conservatorship, saying:  “I have to report every nickel and dime spent to the court every year. How the hell would I steal something.” Jamie Spears added, “It’s up to the court of California to decide what’s best for my daughter. It’s no one else’s business.”
