All The Times Celebs Screwed Up And Apologised Via The Notes App

Is it too late now to say sorry?

Do celebs actually use the iPhone Notes app for anything else?

Celebrity scandals have definitely evolved over the years. Since the dawn of celeb culture, we’ve been witness to scandal after scandal, then the subsequent apology after apology. These celeb apologies have taken the form of press conferences, PR statements and more recently screenshots of the iPhone Notes app.

For more on what celebs are up to in COVID-19 isolation, make sure you check out this episode of It’s Been A Big Day For…

Given social media’s ability to spread information fast, Instagram and Twitter have been used by many-a-celeb to get one’s side of the story out to the public. But, considering most apologies from celebs are over 270 characters and can’t effectively be communicated via selfie, the iPhone Notes app has, over time, become the most popular way to apologise. Let’s dive into some of our faves.

The Time Lady Gaga Apologised For Collaborating With R-Kelly

In January last year, Lady Gaga apologised to her 77 million Twitter followers for her insensitive collaboration with R. Kelly. The song in question came off her album ARTPOP and was called, ‘Do What U Want’. Given the sexual assault allegations against R. Kelly, Lady Gaga has apologised for the collaboration, removed the song from streaming services and re-released the album without it.

The Time Drake Apologised For That Photoshoot

It seems like forever ago that Drake and Pusha-T had heated beef, but boy are the gory details ingrained in our brains. There were a few diss-tracks here and there, but none more damaging than Pusha-T’s “The Story of Adidon”. If it wasn’t enough that Pusha outed Drake for having a son, he really went in with the album artwork, where he resurfaced an image of a young Drake seemingly doing blackface. Drake’s apology clears the whole thing up.

The Time Migos Apologised For Being Homophobic

In 2017, Migos were confronted in a Rolling Stone interview with the fact that fellow Atlanta rapper ILoveMakonnen is gay. Their reaction was shockingly negative, reacting with disgust and calling Makonnen’s sexuality “wack.” They have since apologised on Twitter for the incident but we’re not exactly happy with the situation.

The Time Kendall Jenner Apologised For Insensitive Merch

And you thought the Pepsi commercial was the only controversy that hit Kendall in 2017. In June of this year, Kendall and Kylie came under fire for cultural appropriation for their clothing line, which featured their faces and initials drawn over famous musicians. These musicians included rap legends Biggie Smalls and Tupac. Having said, that Kendall did address it and apologise for the misstep. Love that.

The Time Ja Rule Apologised For Fyre Festival

It was a scam. No matter how you put it, it was a scam. But, at least Ja Rule took to the podium in 2017 to argue that it wasn’t his fault. Hey, did you know that Billy McFarland (the other guy behind Fyre Festival) is currently hoping we’ve all forgotten about it so he can get out of jail? Honestly, what a mess.
