All The Times Celebs Chose Snacks Over Fancy Award Show Food

Julia Butters keeps a turkey sandwich in her $3500 purse, just fyi.

With the awards season for 2020 coming to an end, one thing has particularly stuck out to me today. Sandwiches. Despite all of the fancy food that awards shows have to offer, we’ve seen two sandwiches pulled out in the last 24 hours.

Firstly, we had the dude delivering the statues for the Independent Spirit Awards who handed off a trophy without bothering to put his sandwich down. I don’t know his name, but I’ve been thinking about him all day.

Secondly, we had angel on earth Julia Butters hitting the red carpet at the Oscars. I’m not sure why the interviewer asked what was in a 10 year old’s handbag, but I’m so glad they did because Julia whipped out a turkey sandwich out of her $3500 purse as if it was the obvious answer.

And so, without further ado, here are some more times that celebs decided that fancy award show food was too much.

Jameela Jamil’s String Cheese

Walking the Emmys red carpet for her role in The Good Place, Jameela said that the string cheese in her bag “won’t keep me going for long, but it’ll keep me from punching a celebrity in the face.”

It’s not the only

Lilly Singh’s Skittles

This one wasn’t even subtle. Lilly Singh had a see through purse full of skittles at the 2020 Grammys, so nobody even had to ask what was in there.

Melissa McCarthy’s 40 Sandwiches

Again with the sandwiches. Melissa McCarthy said she smuggled 40 ham sandwiches into last year’s Golden Globes to hand out and stop people going hungry. She left the night with just two left.

No, no, thank you.

Chris Rock’s Girl Scout Cookies

Chris Rock brought a heap of his daughter’s Girl Scout Cookies to sell to people at the 2016 Oscars. He sold $65,243 American dollars worth, so I’d call that a success.
