One Nation Trying To Kick Us Out Of Their Press Call Is The Highlight Of My Political Career

We were definitely there to hear what Mark Latham and Pauline Hanson had to say and absolutely not to take the piss.

So Mark Latham, outspoken former-leader of the Labor Party, has officially joined Pauline Hanson under One Nation to run for NSW Parliament. It’s the kind of thing that we hoped would never happen even though we literally predicted it happening.

Immediately following the announcement there was a whole lot of press stops, including one where Latham seemed to leave Hanson high and dry after not showing up to the live TV appearance. Whoops!

But one press call actually went down just outside our building and both Pauline Hanson and Mark Latham were confirmed present. So, of course, we headed down to capture some hard-hitting political correspondence:

Yes, admittedly, having someone eat an apple obnoxiously loud and rolling their eyes was likely not the kind of coverage that One Nation’s people were hoping for.

I love politics.

But if you’re going to keep on coming at us with anti-immigration, anti-political correctness and anti-identity politics ramblings, then this is the kind of coverage you deserve.

It’s a very important perspective that we were vying to represent, and you can’t control the press! But damn, they really did try.

Teehee.

Mid apple-eating shot, one of the One Nation crew caught on and cut in to ask us – What show are we with? Do we have a business card? Who are we filming for?

The subtext certainly seemed to be: please would you kindly rack off.

Plz stop.

But we persevered! More ramblings to hear, more apple to eat.

Eventually Pauline Hanson’s chief of staff, James Ashby, came over – just to chat! Just to introduce himself! Just to find out what publication we are with! Are you Buzzfeed? Is it an app?

He was friendly and seemed very keen to learn more about GOAT. I think, however, that he would have liked for us to kindly rack off also.

Just here for a chat!

The One Nation crew member certainly did not seem super keen on becoming the centre of our story and helpfully pointed out that the presentation was actually happening in the other direction to where the camera was pointed. It was a great hot tip. An exclusive, if you will.

Thank you!

At the end of the day, you can’t make people leave a press call given in a public space by public figures on issues of public concern. And you can’t stop anyone from eating an apple.

But One Nation trying to shut us down was honestly the highlight of my political career and so I’m not even mad. I am merely grateful for this wonderful content:
