It’s been a big day for… Listening to...

Of Course Pauline Hanson Thinks The Port Arthur Massacre Is A Conspiracy

Ol' Pauline has said a LOT of crazy things over the years but this a new low, even for her.

It really hasn’t been a great week for One Nation and Pauline Hanson has it?

Al Jazeera recently released the first part of its explosive documentary How To Sell A Massacre, which exposed One Nation’s efforts in lobbying the National Rifle Association of America (NRA) for millions in funding in order to roll back Australia’s gun control laws.

And now the “How screwed are we?” meter has ticked over from “screwed” to “really screwed” for ol’ Pauline because she’s just been caught on camera questioning the 1996 Port Arthur massacre and implying that it was nothing but a government conspiracy.

Oh boy, not again.

Footage of Hanson’s comments about Port Arthur was secretly recorded by Al Jazeera reporter, Rodger Muller, and released by the ABCand it shows the senator and her chief of staff James Ashby talking about the topic.

She tells Muller “An MP said it would actually take a massacre in Tasmania to change the gun laws in Australia. Haven’t you heard that? Have a look at it. It was said on the floor of Parliament.

Ashby then decides to chime in with his own nugget of “That whole September 11 thing, too,” before Hanson goes completely into conspiracy theory territory, saying “Those shots, they were precision shots. Check the number out. I’ve read a lot and I’ve read the book on it, Port Arthur. A lot of questions there.”

Yes, it is as cooked as it all sounds and it is even more bonkers when you watch those actual words come out of Hanson’s mouth.

We’re used to Hanson saying absolutely vile stuff over the years but questioning the 1996 Port Arthur massacre – a mass shooting that left 35 dead and 23 wounded – is a new low for her and completely reprehensible.

Having kept herself and One Nation in the spotlight for so long with her crazy statements, Hanson may have just put a nail in the coffin for her career and political party with her latest barrage of offensive comments since there is simply no way to spin this into something that’s not negative.

And just as a cherry on top of what’s been a wild week for One Nation, the second part of Al Jazeera’s How To Sell A Massacre documentary is scheduled to air on ABC on March 28 and was just released in its entirety on YouTube (which we put at the bottom of this article).

When it rains, it frigging pours for One Nation and Pauline Hanson. And judging by how this week’s gone for them, there aren’t enough life rafts in the world to save them this time.
