An Ode To The Greatest NYE Venue Ever: Your Loungeroom

Cheers to that.

New Year‘s Eve is the most overrated night of the holiday season, but most of the time it only sucks because you’ve either been dragged way out of your social comfort zone, or you’ve resigned yourself to hours in front of the TV.

What if, hypothetically, you could own your loungeroom as a NYE party destination?

*teen Miley Cyrus voice* “It’s the beeeeest of both worldssss!”

Instead of ringing in the new year with a bunch of rowdy strangers, you bring over a partyful of your nearest and dearest. The comfort, the class, the sheer convenience… What’s not to love?

Let’s talk about how your loungeroom is the literal comfort zone of NYE venues. Advantages over every pub ever include: more throw pillows than anyone could ever need, permanent access to the TV remote, and the required amount of TP in the bathroom. Plus, at least you know where your own furniture has been (slash who’s using it).

Ultimately, by having New Year’s Eve at home, you’re putting yourself in control. The only compromise is having to host the darn thing, but to be able to decide on the guest list?

These are all small fry compared to the singular most appealing reason to host your own party – the amount of cash you’ll save. Booze is exponentially more expensive on New Year’s Eve (captive audience, and all that). Um, $25 for a martini? Isn’t that basically theft? And that’s not even touching on the price of food and transport. On all fronts, NYE on the sofa is a win-win-win.

Naturally, no discussion of New Year’s Eve is complete without a bit of fireworks discourse. Seriously, stay at home – there, I said it. For one, no matter which city you live in, you are guaranteed to get a better view of the show from your TV than any NYE venue. Fighting through crowds a million strong for a glimpse of some festive pyrotechnics? Thank u, next.

Your loungeroom is clearly the GOAT of new year’s eve venues – it’s cheaper than going out, easier, and less stressful. Well, most of the time. Just don’t let anyone bring the fireworks display inside.
