Netflix's One Day At A Time Has Been Saved From Cancellation But There's A Twist

I’m going to spoon you.

After Netflix cancelled One Day at a Time in March 2019, there was no word on the fourth season for the highly-popular sitcom. Not even a rousing campaign from Lin-Manuel Miranda could sway NBC to pick it up.

Until today when it was announced that the CBS owned Pop TV, the home of Schitt’s Creek would be picking up the ODAAT for a brand new 13-episode season that will debut in 2020. But as for Australians, CBS owns Network Ten, so hopefully we will get it on their streaming service, 10 Access.

Stars Rita Moreno, Justina Machado, Stephen Tobolowsky Isabella Gomez, Todd Grinnell and Marcel Ruiz are all signed to return with showrunners Gloria Calderón Kellett and Mike Royce.

But here’s the thing: after ODAAT was cancelled, most of the writing staff had to take other jobs, so the show is hiring a new writers room with a slight format change as now the show will have to accomodate ad breaks (which evidently Netflix doesn’t do).

Honestly, we’re just happy that One Day At A Time is coming back and we would’ve been happy to see it in any for… we would’ve been content with a graphic novel but we’re even happier with a fourth season.
