Natalie Portman Stars As The Anti-Star Is Born In The Seriously Dark Trailer For Vox Lux

The film also features music by Sia, and the whole thing is giving us some really creepy, twisted vibes.

A Star Is Born is currently wowing audiences and critics alike on cinema screens, a part of that has been because of its clever marketing as a music-filled love story about a simple country musician and rising pop starlet.

Nevermind that the actual film is quite dark and morose, it’s Lady Gaga’s amazing wail that’s getting bums into seats, not the promise of a story about a man’s tragic decline.

Yes, I know this isn’t the moment. But it’s also the only gif I could find from A Star Is Born.

Vox Lux has no time for such pleasantries. The film, starring Academy Award winner Natalie Portman, is less “cute love story” and more “creepy twisted thriller, that happens to feature a musician”.

The film follows the story of Portman’s Celeste, who rises to viral fame after singing at the memorial service for her own school’s shooting. What follows is a dark tale of how pop stardom corrupts, which also features Jude Law and teenage actress Raffey Cassidy, who pulls double duty as Celeste’s daughter and a teenage Celeste.

Check out the trailer below:

As a bonus, all the songs from the film are written by our own Sia. Which is fitting, considering how much of an enigma she also is.

Vox Lux is already getting Oscar buzz, after premiering at film festivals around the world, especially for Portman as Celeste.

In other words: Lady Gaga better watch out because Natalie Portman’s coming for that Best Actress Oscar.

I wouldn’t cross Natalie Portman, tbh. She was in Star Wars.
