It’s been a big day for… Listening to...

Gleefully Filthy Podcast 'My Dad Wrote A Porno' Will Soon Be A TV Show, Proving That You Can Succeed In Life By Just Reading Porn To Strangers

Why listen to people read a bloke's dad's written smut when you can watch it on TV instead?

Is your dad an amateur erotic fiction writer whose work has been compared (unfavourably) to masterpieces such as Fifty Shades of Grey? Do you have a mega popular podcast in which you read chapters of your dad’s aforementioned erotic fiction with your your mates?

Then good news!

Comedy smut podcasts are apparently super-popular in Hollywood right now and the most popular one of all, the perfectly titled My Dad Wrote a Porno, will be getting its own TV show.

My Dad Wrote a Porno co-host James Cooper spilled the deets during the Edinburgh International Television Festival, where he revealed that he and his fellow podcast co-creators Jamie Morton and Alice Levine are working on a TV project based on their popular podcast.

He didn’t get into any specifics, but Cooper did tease that he and his partners have considered various TV formats for My Dad Wrote a Porno, including musical and animated adaptations.

If it all sounds weird, that’s because it is. I mean, how exactly do you make a TV show about discovering your dad’s secret double life as an amateur smut novelist who penned the next coming of Fifty Shades of Grey?

For those who are unaware of what the My Dad Wrote a Porno podcast exactly is, the story begins in 2015 where Morton discovered that his dad had in fact been moonlighting as an amateur erotic fiction writer by the fantastic name of Rocky Flintstone.

After reading the first chapter to his friends, Levine suggested they start a podcast where each episode involves the Morton, Cooper, and Levine reading a new chapter of “Rocky Flintstone’s” smut while giving a running commentary on it.

If listening to people read smutty fiction to you through your headphones isn’t your thing, it soon will be because the podcast is mega-popular and has featured celebs like Elijah Wood, Daisy Ridley, and Michael Sheen.

Damn, I was just joking before but it turns out there really is a market for comedy smut podcasts these days.

No further deets about the My Dad Wrote a Porno TV show has been spilled yet but we’ll keep you filled in on the smutty news when it, ahem, comes out.

In the meantime, I’ll be visiting my dad this weekend and seeing if he has been moonlighting as a writer. I suddenly have a great idea for a podcast that could lead to a TV show.
