James Blake Is Not Here For His GF Jameela Jamil Being Labelled Just A 'Muse'

He's got no time for guys who think they're "Mr. Golden Balls"

Singer songwriter James Blake has no time for labels, especially if they’re sexist or undermine his girlfriend, Jameela Jamil.

During a backstage interview with Billboard, Blake was asked about how Jamil “inspired” his recent album Assume Form. While the singer said that Jamil had actually helped him make the album and that her credit isn’t just a “shoutout,” he later took to Twitter to further clarify his comments.

“Not just inspired it – she actually worked on it,” Blake began his thread. “People focus on ‘inspired’ because the idea of the ‘muse’ is so romantic and pervasive.”

Later, he said that women who help their partners with their album “almost invariably go uncredited,” while male producers “come in and make a tiny change to a track and they’re Mr. Golden Balls.”

Finishing his thread, Blake gave a shout out to “all the partners who selflessly placated a musician during a very self absorbed process like creating an album.” He noted that these partners “got the title ‘muse” afterward which basically amounts to be an object of affection while the musician exercises their ‘genius.’”

Blake even went as far as correcting Wikipedia and tweeting an image of Jamil’s credit on his album. When a follower called him a “cuck” for his comments, he simply responded, “if you listen to women you might actually keep one interested.”

Wow. On behalf of all of us, thank you James.

It’s so important that partners, and particularly females, get the acknowledgement they deserve in these kinds of situations. Jamil isn’t just sitting around being the apple of her boyfriend’s eye – she has valuable creative input that has been recognised by James Blake, and should be acknowledged by fans and the media as well.
