How To Survive A Camping Festival Without Turning Feral

Don't be foul.

Whether it’s your first Coachella, or fifth consecutive year at Splendour, no one wants it to turn into Fyre Fest 2.0. So let’s get down to the necessities.

Pack the essentials

Think minimal. It’s a three day festival, not a trip to Europe.

Check the weather before you go. You’ll most likely be enduring the hot UV rays during the day and feeling the chill once the sun sets. A windbreaker will protect you from rain, hail or shine. Thank us later. And definitely re-apply that SPF 50+.

Camp near a landmark

Get in early and set up next to an easy to spot landmark. Because there’s nothing worse than being lost and searching for your tent in the dark after a solid 12 hours of raving.

Hygiene

Baby wipes, spare toilet paper and hand sanitiser are your new best friends. And DO NOT look down at the portaloos – who knew humans could produce that?

Know the line-up

Have a rough idea of your must-sees. Warning: You probably won’t make every set. Those damn clashes.

Hot tip: Make the set times your screensaver, this way you don’t have to search your camera roll constantly throughout the day.

Food

Let’s be real, you don’t need as much as you think. Easy packs are bread, muesli bars, canned food and bananas.

Plus, there’s always an abundance of food stalls from local eats. Treat yo’self! But, be careful your bank account may take a hit. A simple burger could cost you near 20 buckeroos.

Stay hydrated

You hear this all the time, but keep up the water intake. It’s true – it’s a marathon not a sprint. Soda water is the ultimate life saver – stay hydrated as you mix it with your voddy! It’s the best of both worlds.

Buddy up for the weekend

Before you begin the shenanigans, set a meeting point if you do get lost because chances are your group of 10+ won’t stick together. Find a friend to to partner up with and look out for each other.

Get that content, honey

Did you even attend the festival if it wasn’t on the gram? Have your gram shots mentally prepared and smash them out early, then enjoy your day.

Hint: The golden hour at sunset is always sure to secure those likes.
