It’s been a big day for… Listening to...

The ‘Get Out’ Producers Have Cancelled Their New Project Because Of Mass Shootings And Trump

The film was meant to be released next month.

It’s been a pretty terrible week for the US. The country has been left heartbroken following mass shootings in El Paso, Texas and Dayton, Ohio as well as Immigration and Customs Enforcement raids at several Mississippi food processing plants which saw 680 workers arrested for immigration violations – leaving many children and spouses without family members.

While all of that was happening, was President Donald Trump working to solve either of these huge problems? No. He was tweeting about a movie called The Hunt, made by the producers of Get Out and The Purge.

He wrote, “Liberal Hollywood is Racist at the highest level, and with great Anger and Hate! They like to call themselves ‘Elite,’ but they are not Elite.

“In fact, it is often the people that they so strongly oppose that are actually the Elite. The movie coming out is made in order… to inflame and cause chaos. They create their own violence, and then try to blame others. They are the true Racists, and are very bad for our Country!”

According to the NY Post, Trump also spoke about the movie with reporters this week in the Hamptons, “Hollywood, I don’t call them the elites. I think the elites are the people they go after in many cases. But Hollywood is really terrible.”

“What they’re doing, with the kind of movie they’re putting out, it’s actually very dangerous for our country. What Hollywood is doing is a tremendous disservice to our country.”

Universal Pictures decided to stop their advertising campaign for The Hunt following the two mass shootings. However, not long after Trump tweeted, they decided to shelve the movie, which stars Hilary Swank, Emma Roberts, Justin Hartley and Betty Gilpin.

The satirical film was about supposed red state Americans who wake up to find they’re being hunted for sport by elite liberals.

Universal released a statement which read, “While Universal Pictures had already paused the marketing campaign for The Hunt, after thoughtful consideration, the studio has decided to cancel our plans to release the film.”

“We stand by our film-makers and will continue to distribute films in partnership with bold and visionary creators, like those associated with this satirical social thriller, but we understand that now is not the right time to release this film.”

According to the Hollywood Reporter, the screenplay for the movie includes the lines, “Did anyone see what our ratf***er-in-chief just did?”

Another person responds, “At least The Hunt’s coming up. Nothing better than going out to the Manor and slaughtering a dozen deplorables,” referencing a nickname for Trump supporters.

So, it’s pretty unsurprising that Trump didn’t love the idea for the film…
