It’s been a big day for… Listening to...

Sorry, But Chance The Rapper's Job On The Lion King Won't Pass On Your Résumé

Skills: can make antelope sounds.

There’s no doubt that Chance the Rapper is a super talented and inspiring guy, but his role in the recent remake of The Lion King sounds like it was under the ‘Experience’ section of a really dodgy résumé.

Apparently, Chance worked as a ‘nostalgia consultant’ (!!) on the film because he was obsessed with the film as a kid. In an Instagram post, the rapper explained his recent gig: “I grew up my whole life obsessed with all things related to #TheLionKing.”

“So when my big bro Donald got cast as Simba, he did the coolest thing ever and told director Jon Favreau to call me in as a consultant to keep the original flavour.” Absolutely no shade, but we were all obsessed with The Lion King as kids, so this job seems like it could be quite straightforward, no?

However, it’s not the only job Chance had on the film. In an interview with Jimmy Fallon, the rapper said he also did some of the “background noises” for the film, including the sound of “antelopes grazing.”

He expertly demonstrates the noise at 1:52 mark below. It sounds a lot like ASMR of me eating a burrito, and I suddenly I’m feeling very inspired.

To be very fair, Chance also lent his velvety pipes to the film in various singing parts, which is most definitely something I couldn’t do.

If anyone is looking for a ‘nostalgia consultant’ on anything from the 90s, I’m all ears.
