Robert Pattinson's French Accent In 'The King' Is Incredibly Distracting

Can't tell if it's excellent or ridiculous?!

If you have yet to watch The King, it seems the best part about the whole film is when Robert Pattinson shows up and starts talking.

The Internet is now as fixated on the actor’s accent in the Netflix film in the same way they were fixated on his hair when the first trailer was released.

While he’s not in the movie for that long, Pattinson as The Dauphin does manage to steal the show in scenes with Timothée Chalamet’s King Henry V. The Dauphin brings humour into an otherwise serious film and if you need more convincing, here’s a scene where he talks about the King’s “tiny cock”.

The fan reviews of The King have mostly focussed on Pattinson’s look in the film as well as his accent.

It perhaps proves to those who might not have realised the fact that Pattinson has been making very interesting choices since finishing up on the Twilight series as Edward Cullen.

The actor is also receiving rave reviews for The Lighthouse and will soon be playing Bruce Wayne in Matt Reeves’ The Batman, which will show more of the character’s detective side.

Speaking with Variety, Pattinson revealed his process of research, “I’m glad I’ve had quite a lot of time. I didn’t realize there were so many Batman comics. Hundreds and thousands. But I’ve been reading a lot of those, and not really just the kind of classics. I just like reading the sort of individual periodicals. It’s nice to kind of see the absolutely contemporary ones.”

At the moment we know Zoe Kravitz will star in the film as Catwoman and Paul Dano will appear as The Riddler.

It’s been rumoured for a while that Jeffrey Wright will star in the film as Commissioner James Gordon, and Reeves recently made the announcement on Twitter.

Reeves has assembled quite the team so far, 2021 can’t come soon enough!
