A Quick History Of 'Clueless' Star Stacey Dash’s Problematic Behaviour

This isn't the first time she's found herself making headlines for the wrong reasons.

Earlier today, police reported that Clueless actress Stacey Dash had been arrested for domestic battery after an incident involving her husband occurred over the weekend.

Law enforcement sources told TMZ cops were called to Dash’s home after she got into an argument with her new husband Jeffrey Marty “and allegedly put hands on him.” Sources say Dash “allegedly pushed and slapped him and that’s when officers arrived.” TMZ state authorities also “saw scratches on his left arm.”

Since then, sources close to Dash claim she acted in self defence and in a 911 call obtained by TMZ, the actress can be heard telling the operator she had been assaulted by her husband.

It sounds like an extremely traumatic ordeal, but sadly, it’s not the first time Dash has found herself in the headlines for all the wrong reasons. In fact, the 52-year-old actress is well-known for stirring up controversy with her polarising political views.

In a 2016 interview with Entertainment Tonight, Dash called out fellow conservative Caitlyn Jenner for using women’s bathrooms. “OK, then go in the bushes. I don’t know what to tell you, but I’m not gonna put my child’s life at risk because you want to change a law,” she said. “So that you can be comfortable with your beliefs — which means I have to change my beliefs and my rights? No.”

Later, she threw shade at Lady Gaga for using the Born This Way Foundation to promote her “liberal agenda.” During the interview, Dash also made a number of controversial statements about feminism. “Stop trying to be men. Let’s be women. And let’s let men be men. Let’s empower them to be men, because I feel like they’re falling away,” she said.

The same year, Dash appeared on Fox News where she called fellow actress Jada Pinkett Smith “ludicrous” for suggesting black people should boycott the Oscars because of the lack of representation.

“We have to make up our minds; either we want to have segregation or integration,” she said. “If we don’t want segregation, then we need to get rid of channels like BET and the BET Awards, and the [NAACP] Image Awards, where you’re only awarded if you’re black. If it were the other way around, we would be up in arms. It’s a double standard.”

Dash later said she feels as though “there shouldn’t be a Black History Month,” because “we’re American; that’s it.”

Over the years, Dash has experienced her fair share of drama in her personal life, as well as her public life. The actress, who has been married four times, has opened up about being molested as a child by a family friend, struggling with addiction, and being with physically and emotionally abusive partners.

It sounds like there’s a fair amount of trauma going on beneath the surface for Stacey Dash. We can only hope her recent arrest allows her to find the peace and happiness she needs.
