Monsters Inc was released in December 2001, but the love for the epic Pixar animation is clearly still fresh as ever. Today marks a significant date that relates to the film, so without missing a beat, the Monsters Inc fandom has sprung into full blown celebration online.
Today we honour of the iconic red alert scene. AKA, the 2319 scene, when George returns from a scaring mission with a child’s sock stuck on his fluffy orange back. This causes the CDA to spring into action, calling a code-named 2319 emergency, and culminating in a bald cut for George. It’s pure cinematic gold.
While technically, Australia should celebrate this day on March 2nd, for the sake of global unity we will adhere to the nonsensical American dating system. For a lot of people, today’s date is 2/3/19, and the day to salute George and his sacrifice.

I love Monsters Inc and I honestly had no idea that the world was holding its breath for 17 years for this day to come along, just to celebrate red alert 2319. It just shows that the power of Pixar should never be underestimated.
