Mindy Kaling recently appeared on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert to promote her new film Late Night when Stephen received a call on his Apple Watch.
While she’s in the middle of her story, his watch says, “Thank you for choosing Marriott Hotels.”
A very embarrassed Stephen tried to quiet his watch, but Mindy wouldn’t let him hear the end of it.
The host tried to explain, “My watch got a phone call and I tried to put my hand over it because I forgot to put it to sleep, and it was a call from Marriott Hotels.”
Mindy joked, “Your rewards program from Marriott interrupted my touching story about Emma Thompson.”
“Wait a second, hold on…I have so many questions…You’re rich! Why do you need an awards program??”
Stephen replied, “This is how you get rich. You go for the rewards.”
Mindy continued, “I don’t even know. I have so many more questions about your financial situation. I don’t use a rewards program!”
“He has the No. 1 show on TV and he’s like, ‘Ohhh, gotta make sure if I travel, that me and my wife, and my three children, are being hosted in an economical way.”
“I don’t even know, I’m in a movie with Emma Thompson,like, who cares, whatever!”
Stephen explained that he tried putting his hand over his watch to silence the call but then realised he might have answered it instead and tells the crowd, “I thought well we’ll know in a moment when they start talking!”
Mindy joked, “You know when this ends, he’s going to be scrambling, like, ‘Ahh, I hope I still have those rewards. I hope I didn’t delete that!’”
