Miles Teller has been cast as the son of Mick “Goose” Bradshaw, in the upcoming sequel to Top Gun.
The Whiplash star will play the new protégé of Cruise’s Maverick, in Top Gun: Maverick, a sequel to the movie famed critic Pauline Kael once described as a “…recruiting poster that isn’t concerned with recruiting but with being a poster.”
This casting makes sense. When you feel the need for speed, who better than a guy whose name literally translates to “speedometer”. https://t.co/kGnK4Y4nvJ

There are some rather strange ramifications of casting Miles Teller as Goose’s son, however. The original Top Gun, where Goose tragically died, was released in May 1986. Miles was born in February 1987.
So either Maverick’s wingman tragically died leaving a newly pregnant wife behind, as well as the newborn we saw in the first film, or Miles’ genetic connection to Goose is tenuous, to say the least.
We really need to have the proper timelines of the Top Gun Cinematic Universe established, people.
The more important news, however, is whether or not Miles will share Goose’s most important facial feature: his majestic pornstache.
Just look at that beauty. It needs to happen, Miles. Needs to.
Top Gun: Maverick comes out in July 2019.
