Michelle Obama Stepping Out In Risqué High-Fashion Glitter Boots While On Her Book Tour Is A Major Power Move

We stan a queen in thigh-highs.

In case you missed it, Michelle Obama, the lawyer, advocate, university administrator, former First Lady of the United States, and all round incredible role model, has written a book. It’s an autobiographical political memoir titled Becoming and it should for sure be at the top of all of our reading lists.

Michelle Obama has always been a huge contributor to society, and she’s outspoken on issues that need attention. She commands respect all while being irresistibly likeable. A big reason for that, is that she remains through everything, unapologetically herself.

Part of Michelle Obama’s public identity is being a fashion icon, and with every risqué, attention-grabbing style choice she has made during her time in the White House and long after, it feels like she is saying, ‘there is absolutely no reason why women can’t have it all.’

Which brings us to the last stop on her book tour in Brooklyn, New York, when Michelle Obama stepped out on stage in gold, sparkly, thigh-high boots that literally brought the world to their feet.

Bow down to an absolute queen my friends:

The US$4000 Balenciaga boots were a fitting choice for an onstage appearance alongside Sex and the City fashionista Sarah Jessica Parker, and people could not get enough of the bold holographic statement.

Women are so often treated as if wearing evocative clothing somehow makes them less qualified in a political and business context – just think of Australian senator Sarah Hanson-Young being slandered for wearing a dress that showed slight cleavage in parliament.

Michelle Obama is basically a walking sign for the age-old motto, ‘f**k the haters’, and she can do more good to society in her golden boots than most male politicians could ever hope to get done in their boring-ass suits.
