This year’s Met Gala theme is ‘Camp: Notes on Fashion’, which is an instruction to wear an outfit of extreme extravagance and go absolutely over the top. The Met Gala any year is an opportunity to put your all into your outfit, but this year it is literally the theme.
So why on earth men think they can show up to this even in subtle variations on a black suit is beyond comprehension. They should be turned away at the door.

The list goes on. There are women and men turning it UP for the pink carpet, and then there are the dudes who have worn what can only be described as boring-ass black suits. Some made unimpressive attempts to nod to ‘camp’, some just really did not.

Shawn Mendes, plain as heck.
Liam Hemsworth legit just had this tux in the cupboard and I won’t believe otherwise. Miley isn’t super impressive either but at least she tried.
Rami Malek just catapulted his career by playing queer, camp icon Freddie Mercury, and yet.
Same goes for Taron Egerton, who is playing Elton John in Rocket Man.

The Met Gala is not an event where you can opt out of the theme! Plenty of men got into theme, so there’s no writing it off as a ‘chick thing’. Don’t bore us! Do better.
