Tom Hiddleston Once Asked Chris Hemsworth To Punch Him In The Face And Immediately Regretted It

"I think you should just hit me in the face."

One of the best relationships in the MCU would have to be between Thor (Chris Hemsworth) and his brother Loki (Tom Hiddleston). Their chemistry has been one of the more interesting dynamics of the MCU and Loki is often considered the best villain of the 20+ films.

While Loki and Thor’s relationship constantly changed between brothers and enemies, Hiddleston and Hemsworth also seemingly had a bit of a funny relationship with the English actor saying he once encouraged the Aussie star to punch him in the face. Unsurprisingly, he immediately regretted it.

While filming Avengers, where Loki leads Thanos’ army into battle with Earth’s Mightiest Heroes, there’s one scene where Hemsworth had to hit Hiddleston across the face, but the Loki actor was having trouble really selling the punch, so he asked him to punch him for real.

Speaking on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, Hiddleston said, “There was actually a scene in Avengers 1, the first Avengers movie, where Thor had to strike Loki across the face and I was wearing the horns, which weighed about 30 lbs, and I couldn’t really sell the hit, the smack.

“So, I just said to Chris I think you should just hit me in the face. It’s a terrible idea, and I went down like a stone. I suppose on stage when you’re doing a fight you have to it every night for 100 odd performances, I think if I was being hit in the face by Chris Hemsworth day after day, I don’t know if I would be able to manage that. It wouldn’t be sustainable.”

Hiddleston also attempted to talk about his new Disney+ series, also called Loki, but there was very little that he could give away.

“In the years since Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame… Two questions I’ve been asked are ‘is Loki really dead?’ and ‘what’s Loki doing with that cube?’ It’s always the cube somehow! And this series will answer both of those questions.”

Colbert tried to trick Hiddleston into revealing more, saying, “I understand that there’s time travel in this, that much we know, that there’s time travel in this… This is the reveal, no, Disney called and said it’s OK! You can tell me.

“There’s time travel and the first episode’s got to be you going back to kill baby Hitler, right? Gotta be!”

Hiddleston hesitated and didn’t respond, so Colbert joked, “Wow! You can’t even say it’s NOT that!”

Earlier this year, The Hollywood Reporter suggested this as the synopsis, “Loki as the trickster and shape-shifter pops up throughout human history as an unlikely influencer on historical events.”

So, that Hitler thing could be true, I guess?

The show is set for release in early to mid-2021.
