Not Even Elizabeth Olsen Noticed This WandaVision Poster Easter Egg

Did you see it?

WandaVision star Elizabeth Olsen didn’t notice the Easter egg hidden in the show’s first poster until it was pointed out to her on live TV – to be fair, I totally hadn’t noticed it either!

The actress, who plays villain-turned-Avenger Wanda Maximoff AKA Scarlet Witch in the MCU will be playing the character in a small screen project for Disney+ alongside Paul Bettany, who plays Android Vision.

While we don’t know much about the show – it doesn’t release until early 2021 after all – it’s confirmed that it will take place after Avengers: Endgame and will connect with Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness, because Wanda will appear in that movie.

So, we’ll have to wait and see what it’s really about, but Marvel did hide a little Easter egg in the first piece of marketing material for the show and Olsen didn’t even notice it.

While appearing on Jimmy Kimmel Live! to promote the second season of Sorry For Your Loss, Kimmel showed Olsen the poster for WandaVision, pointing out that in the far left of the poster, there’s a shadow of the title characters with Wanda seemingly wearing the headpiece that the character wears in the comics.

The actress said, “I’m so happy you pointed that out, I didn’t notice that.”

Good to know Marvel keeps their cast across everything!

Kimmel asked what she knew about the show and she told him she didn’t actually know what she was allowed to say.

“When I found out about it, they had Paul and I come in at different times into [Kevin Feige’s] office, and it felt like being called into the principal’s office.”

“I thought I got in trouble saying something about Infinity War or something at the time. And it’s kind of his creation, the show, it’s an idea he conceived,” she added.

Kimmel responded, “If he conceived it, it’s going to be good.”

“It’s pretty great… I know a lot about it,” Olsen told him cheekily.

When Olsen first appeared as Wanda in Avengers: Age of Ultron, the topic of whether she’d wear the same costume from the comics was a controversial topic. The actress recalled that Joss Whedon told her she wouldn’t be wearing the revealing outfit that the character wears in the comics for Age of Ultron.

Olsen has played the character four times and has never worn anything similar to the outfit displayed in the comics, but perhaps that will change in WandaVision?

Wanda has yet to show how truly powerful she is in the MCU and what’s most interesting about WandaVision is that it’s been described quite strangely as, “Half classic sitcom, half MCU spectacular”.

Kat Dennings’ Darcy Lewis from Thor and Thor: The Dark World, Randall Park as Jimmy Woo from Ant-Man and the Wasp and Teyonah Parris as the adult version of Monica Rambeau will also appear in the show.

ScreenRant has some ideas for how the show will take a turn, “The realm of exaggerated ‘50s wholesomeness may have been created by the unstable combination of [Wanda’s] emotional volatility after seeing her love killed and the potentially reality warping powers she wields. Such a setup can only end with a tragic return to reality.”

Now, that makes sense!
