Netflix Gives Marvel's God-Awful Iron Fist Series The Merciful Axe After Two Seasons, Which Is Something They Should've Done Ages Ago

I'm surprised they didn't cancel the show within the first 10 minutes of its terrible first episode.

In contrast to the generally high quality standard of its movies (the exceptions being Iron Man 2 and Thor: The Dark World), Marvel’s TV shows on Netflix have been a bit of a mixed bag.

Daredevil started off strong but has dropped off since; Jessica Jones had a great season one and a “meh” season two; Luke Cage is the definition of “it’s very okay”; Iron Fist is god awful from start to finish; The Defenders came with not a bang but a whimper; and I totally forgot about The Punisher until literally right now.

After taking stock of its Netflix shows, Marvel has finally decided to bring the cancellation axe onto one of them and getting the boot is none other than Iron Fist.

Are you sure about that?

According to Deadline, Netflix and Marvel have decided to not renew Iron Fist for a season three despite dropping what was an improved season two just a few weeks ago, which ended on a pretty big cliffhanger.

While there are undoubtedly fans who are disappointed at the show’s cancellation, I am just surprised that it took them this long to give it the axe. The writing was horrible, the acting was subpar, the story was more cluttered than my room, and don’t even get me started on the “action” and “fighting” scenes. Those scenes had more incomprehensible cuts than an amateur chef’s chopping board.

If there is anything I’ll miss about Danny Rand and Iron Fist, it’s all those times where other characters call him out for being a gigantic dumbass.

Having said that, the Iron Fist character may still live on. There’s the chance that he’ll pop up in another Defenders style team up, appear as a supporting character in some of Marvel’s remaining Netflix shows, or perhaps even find a new home on Disney’s upcoming streaming service.

Regardless of whether we’ll see the Danny Rand and his glowing hand again in some form or another, I can’t see Iron Fist‘s cancellation affecting Marvel’s plans too much since its got more than enough content on the TV and movie fronts for the next decade to keep us all well fed.

And with Captain Marvel coming out soon, chances are that everyone will quickly forget about the catastrophic mess that is Iron Fist in no time anyway.
