Kodi Smitt-McPhee aka X-Men's Nightcrawler Would "Absolutely" Join The Marvel Cinematic Universe

MC'n you again.

X-Men: Dark Phoenix is bringing almost 20 years of films starring everyone’s favourite mutants to an end. But it’s left us with some questions.

With the X-Men franchise coming under the Disney banner after its acquisition of 20th Century Fox, audiences have wondered what whether or not this is indeed the last film in this continuity or if there could be a merging of the franchises.

And although nothing has been set in stone, Kodi Smitt-McPhee who plays the teleporting mutant Nightcrawler said that he would “absolutely” be up for reprising the role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Speaking with GOAT, Smitt-McPhee said “there’s been speculation, rumours and myths that they’ve been trying to merge them for a long time.”

“This [X-Men: Dark Phoenix] ultimately kind of shows the arc of where he [Nightcrawler] could go and that was my intention, to connect – to the first reveal of Nightcrawler that we did in Apocalypse that was really timid, comedic relief and vulnerable. Into this movie where it’s that different tone where it’s emotionally driven and it’s much darker.”

Here’s the thing, Smitt-McPhee’s performance in Dark Phoenix is phenomenal and makes him a worthy successor to Alan Cumming from X2: X-Men United.

And in all honesty, we’d love to see this iteration of X-Men fight alongside the Avengers if not at the least: Nightcrawler suiting up alongside Earth’s Mightiest Heroes.
