James Gunn May Have Revealed Captain America Is Star-Lord's Grandfather

Um, what?!

A fan theory about Chris Evans’ Captain America being Chris Pratt’s Star-Lord’s grandfather has once again popped up and even Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn has seemingly confirmed it’s true.

The theory first surfaced when fans realised the same actress who plays Meredith Quill in GOTG also shows up in Captain America: The First Avenger.

Laura Haddock appears in The First Avenger when she locks eyes with Steve Rogers during his tour of the US.

Because the universe is so carefully created, one Reddit user believes that the casting may have been on purpose.

They theorise that Steve and the woman had a one-night stand in the ’40s and she got pregnant. Which would then make Star-Lord a relative of the super-soldier.

The timeline might also check out, if Meredith was born in the ’40s, she’d be in her 30s in the ’70s when she meets Kurt Russell’s Ego and then gives birth to Peter soon after.

James Gunn also took to Twitter to seemingly confirm the rumours:

Sure, he said he “just made it up”, but Meredith Quill could very well have a mum who hooked up with Captain America during the war – though that part does feel a little out of character for Cap.

After all, he was only able to ask Peggy Carter out when he was about to crash into the ice. But the Reddit user believes he may have gone for it with the woman as he was gaining celebrity at the time.

However, just because one actor played two parts in the same universe doesn’t mean too much given Gemma Chan played Sersi in Captain Marvel and is about to play Minn-Erva in Eternals and those characters aren’t related.

But we can still dream that Captain America is Star-Lord’s grandpa!
