How Would You Spoil Your Mum If You Won The Lotto?

It's not always about the big things.

I don’t know about you, but whenever I dream about winning big with the Lotto – which is often – I first think about how my family, specifically my mum, can enjoy the money as well. After all, what fun is having a whole heap of money if you can’t enjoy it with your nearest and dearest?

With Mother’s Day fast approaching we asked around to find out how people would treat their mum if they won big.

A word of warning, though, some of the answers may make you a little misty-eyed.

“My mum has given everything to me in my life and if I won the Lotto it would be the dream opportunity to be able to give back to her. I wouldn’t just want to buy jewellery, or material goods – with that kind of money I would buy her experience she would love. A holiday – a hundred holidays even! The cash winnings could pay for time together with the whole family wherever she wants to go, and seeing how happy that makes her would be the real Lotto prize at the end of the rainbow.”

“How do you even begin to show appreciation for the person who’s given you everything? My mum’s been through a lot and deserves everything in the world. I’d start off by buying her her dream home and then we’d travel together!”

“I’d buy her an animal sanctuary, she’s a vet and gets so upset when animals have to be put down because people aren’t willing to spend money on operations, to house the pets safely while they go on holiday or take care of animals they hit on the road. So I’d love to gift her a sanctuary where she could look after them all.”

It’s not always about the big things, sometimes it’s just making a cup of tea!

“The kitchen in our family home is always the place where we all gather, I would give money to my parents so my mum can renovate the kitchen into what she’s always wanted – no expense spared! I’d also buy her a new kettle because her one just broke.”

“I’d take my mum on a trip around Europe and stop into all the old towns with epic vintage stores and shop hole-in-the-wall op shops to grow her collection and show her she’s not too busy to travel and do things that she’s only dreamed of.”

We’re not crying, you are!

“I’d but her a ticket to Australia for her to come and see me, as it’s been over two years since I saw my parents! Plus when she’s over here she can cook me a Sunday roast, there’s nothing quite like my mum’s roast dinner.”

Can we also come on this trip?

“Pay off the house and send her off on a fabulous overseas trip somewhere warm and beachy. Or maybe New York as she’s a shop-a-holic!”

This mum isn’t getting anything material, but hey, maybe the thought that her child is living their best life is enough?

“If I won the Lotto I wouldn’t share it with my mum cause she’s already living her best life and goes on way more holidays than I do. But I’d buy her a nice picture frame and put in a photo of me and my new boat.”
