This Family Recreated A 15-Hour Flight In Their Living Room, Bless ’Em

Family pass.

Have you ever missed going on a holiday so much that you round up your entire family to recreate a 15-hour flight from your very own living room? Yeah, neither. But, this family did!

Introducing: Kirsty Russell and her entire family. This Newcastle family had originally planned a trip to Germany before the coronavirus pandemic, but instead of getting down in the dumps about its cancellation, they decided to recreate it all from home, flight included.

While some travellers dread getting on an international flight, this family does not fit that category.  Kirsty Russell, her husband Nathan and their children recreated everything about the experience from security checks to the small airline meals. We stan a family who can recreate a 15-hour flight and not have a fight during!

In a Twitter thread, Kirsty Russell admits that it was her husbands plan, saying,  ‘My husband came up with the brilliant idea of spending 15 hours together as a family on a simulated flight and has gone all out to make it awesome. Surprisingly the kids have been on board with this so far.’

But, honestly, this family knew exactly how to recreate an international flight – they nailed every, single element. Let’s just do a little deep dive quickly.

They got their son to play a security officer who helped his family get safely to their flight. How cute.

Not to mention, the family displayed some iconic graphic design skills when they decided to recreate the flight menu and ticket.

Low key, their dinner also looks amazing. I wish I could eat a burger on a flight, honestly.

However, we have to point out a little technicality because dogs aren’t allowed to sit with the humans on planes. But because they’re so cute, we’re going to allow it.

It turns out the whole flight was a success. Kirsty Russell told The Guardian on the second leg of their “flight”, “It started as a joke but it has actually been quite fun… We thought the kids would not be into it at all. But they have embraced it.”

Honestly, it’s exactly this kind of content that is going to get me through isolation.
