These Are The Best Speedy Getaways For Your Easter Long Weekend

Pack your bags.

The Easter long weekend is fast approaching. If you’re looking to be the most organised holiday goer in the office this year, then start roping together your mates and getting keen for an Easter long weekend getaway (your extra Monday off is the 13th of April, just by the way).

If you’ve got everything but the inspo down, here are some Easter long weekend getaways.

The Best Easter Long Weekend Getaways

NSW

The Blue Mountains area is one of the most beautiful places in Australia, and the perfect Easter long weekend getaway. Only a short drive away from Sydney, you can check out bushwalks for every skill level, wander through some of the many shops selling cute handmade crafts, or just hang out in nature for a bit. As a bonus, the area was recently one of the places hit hard by the bushfires, so by visiting them you’re helping rebuild the local economy.

QLD

Moreton Island is a sand island straight off the coast of Brisbane. It’s super accessible, and absolutely gorgeous if you’re looking to soak up some sun and surf on your Easter long weekend getaway. It’s great for 4×4 adventure driving, snorkelling around shipwrecks, and riding boards down sand dunes (sometimes at speeds of 40km/hr).

VIC

If you haven’t had a chance to drive even just some of the Great Ocean Road, the Easter long weekend is your chance. You’ve seen pictures of the Twelve Apostles, but you can also stop in at places like Lorne, Apollo Bay, and the Great Otway National Park. Easter is also the perfect time to check out Bells Beach, cause the RipCurl Pro Surf Competition is on over Easter.

NT

If you feel like floating around in hot springs, canoeing by waterfalls, or exploring some caves on your Easter long weekend getaway, Katherine is the place for you. Katherine is the fourth largest town in the Northern Territory, and is known as the place where “The outback meets the tropics” – and for damn good reason.

ACT

Ok, Jindabyne isn’t technically in the ACT, but if you live there then it’s only a 2 hour drive away. The perfect Easter long weekend getaway. While Jindabyne is mostly used as a base for Thredbo and Perisher-Blue, you can do things like go mountain biking, horse riding, or climb Mt Kosciusko outside of the winter months.

WA

We went to Monkey Mia once when I was a kid, and to this day I remember how much I loved it. Aside from being absolutely stunning, you can hang out with dolphins, humpback whales, sea lions, and even whale sharks. Your Easter long weekend getaway can be spent hanging on the Ningaloo Reef and letting the animals come and say hi to you.

SA

Another place that was badly affected by the recent bushfires is Kangaroo Island. As they come out the other side, they’re looking for tourists now more than ever. During this Easter long weekend getaway, you can hang out on the beach with some of South Australia’s best wines, and later on check out the gin distillery if you want to keep going. There’s also a good chance that you’ll get to see more dolphins as they swim past.

TAS

Last but not least on our list of Easter long weekend getaways, the Huon Valley is located right at the very bottom of Tassie. Check out the Dolomite Caves, spend a day in the treetops with the Tahune Tree Top Walk, and round out the day on the Apple Isle by tasting the region’s specialty apples, brandies and ciders.
