Get Your Violins Out For The Travel Influencers Who Can't Work Cos Of Coronavirus

"They obviously don't want influencers to contract the virus while on the trip."

What do you think is the worst thing that could happen to a person during the coronavirus outbreak? Being quarantined for weeks or months on end? Feeling so sick that you can’t leave the house? Dying? Well throw those concerns out of the window, because what you should really be worried about is the poor travel influencers who can’t fly around the world because of the spread of coronavirus.

There are a specific group of influencers who make their money by travelling around the joint and taking selfies on beaches. Or, if they’ve got a travel influencer buddy, taking those pictures where you drag someone around by the hand to show how excited you are. You know the ones.

People have been warned against travelling for a while now, and a lot of people have had to cancel trips or make other plans. Some people have even ended up stuck in countries and unable to leave, which would definitely throw a spanner in your travel plans.

For most people who have actual jobs to work at, not being able to travel isn’t the end of the world. For a travel influencer, things can get a bit trickier.

“A lot of people are in panic mode,” said Canadian travel influencer Mel Vandersluis.

“Some press trips have went to a halt, some have been cancelled. They obviously don’t want influencers to contract the virus while on the trip.”

Not all influencers are listening to reason though, because of course they aren’t.

Alyssa Ramos has posted about how “followers ask me questions about if they should cancel their plans. I get very angry about it because I want people to travel” and “the news is 100% fear mongering everyone, and infecting you with fear at a faster rate than the virus is spreading.”

So that’s fun.

Influencers have already been posing in coronavirus masks for a while now, I suppose the logical next step is to wind up with a case of it because they refused to listen to official advice.
