New mama Kylie Jenner just dropped the latest collection in her makeup empire, Kylie Cosmetics, and this time she’s collaborated with big sis, Kourtney Kardashian.
The two joined forces to create the new line, which was heavily inspired by Kourtney’s dietary and lifestyle choices.
Kourtney is famously gluten and diary free, so naturally, it seemed fitting to name one of the eye shadows ‘gluten free’.

Because why not?
When you’re fresh out of ideas, always circle back to someone’s inability to absorb nutrients from food through the walls of their small intestine.
Except, here’s the thing… Kourtney isn’t actually Coeliac.
But hey, autoimmune diseases are great for marketing cosmetics. Just saying.
The other issue is that gluten can be found in all kinds of things – including makeup, shampoo, toothpaste, lipstick, hairspray, soap and cleansers.

Well… we don’t know yet.
At least we won’t know until someone posts a picture of the ingredients or Kylie straight up tells us.
Even though we don’t actually eat cosmetics (unless you do that… for some reason?), our skin does absorb the products we put on it.
Most cosmetics have gluten or grain-based ingredients such as wheat germ, avena sativa (oats), hydrolised vegetable proteins, and hydrolised wheat proteins.
If you’re trying to avoid gluten in makeup, keep an eye out for all of these names, including the sneaky term ‘triticum aestivum’, which is just a fancy science way of saying ‘wheat’.
So, here’s the rub.
Even if you want to take that gluten free life to your eyelids, you probably can’t…
Devastating, I know, but not all is lost.
Just make sure you’re reading the labels on your favourite Kylie Cosmetic products before you apply them, or make your life easier and give some of these beauty brands a go: BITE Beauty, Ecco Bella, and Gabriel Cosmetics are all guaranteed to be gluten free.
