Kristen Stewart Wants To Play A Gay Superhero, So Someone Please Call Marvel Right Now

Um, yes please!

Kristen Stewart recently revealed to Harper’s Bazaar she was once told that if she wanted to land a role in a Marvel movie, she shouldn’t hold hands with her girlfriend at the time.

“I have fully been told, ‘If you just like do yourself a favor, and don’t go out holding your girlfriend’s hand in public, you might get a Marvel movie,'” she said.

Now, in an interview with Variety, the actress has revealed she would be interested in playing a gay superhero, and, seriously, Marvel should be setting this up right now.

Stewart, who is promoting her portrayal of doomed film star Jean Seberg at the Toronto Film Festival, expanded on her Harper’s Bazaar quote, telling Variety, “That’s been a conversation that’s always existed.”

“I’ve always radically rejected it. It’s nice to be able to talk about that in a way that people really understand now. Instead of sounding like I’m being crazy, like, ‘Don’t put me in a box! Ambiguity’s a cool thing!’ Now, it’s like, duh.

“Before I had to say it like it was some far-out idea. Now it’s more on the main stage, which is rad.”

She added that she only mentioned Marvel because “it was literally just a big conglomerate-y type thing”.

She went on to say with a laugh, “I’m sure they would love to hire the gay kids to be superheroes.”

Stewart’s Seberg co-star and MCU actor Anthony Mackie wondered aloud which superhero she would play and the actress interjected with, “A gay one!”

Mackie added, “I think she should be the gay female Falcon Captain America.”

Why the hell not?

Marvel has confirmed The Eternals will feature their first openly gay superhero with Kevin Feige telling Good Morning America, “He’s married, he’s got a family, and that is just part of who he is.”

Thankfully, we’ll soon see Stewart kicking ass in the new Charlie’s Angels reboot, so that’s something to look forward to.
