Kristen Stewart And High Heels Is Her Most Complicated Relationship Ever

And her most relatable.

Remember the iconic line from the 2006 hit She’s The Man when Amanda Bynes’ character says, “heels are a male invention designed to make a woman’s butt look smaller. And to make it harder for them to run away”? It’s truly reflective of our love hate relationship with the shoe, and it’s something actress Kristen Stewart is also all too familiar with.

This week, Stewart walked the red carpet at the London premiere of Charlie’s Angels in stunning black and silver Thom Browne gown. However, halfway down the carpet K-Stew had enough and ditched her high heels for a pair of Nike Cortez sneakers.

On a side note: shoutout to Stewart’s glam squad to running to her rescue with the sneaks.

It’s not the first time K-Stew has made her distaste for high heels known. Earlier this year, at Cannes Film Festival Stewart slipped out of her heels before taking the stairs, and caused quite the stir in doing so.

Speaking to the Hollywood Reporter, Stewart said, “There’s definitely a distinct dress code, right? People get very upset if you don’t wear heels or whatever.”

“I feel like you can’t ask people that anymore – it’s a given. If you’re not asking guys to wear heels and a dress, you cannot ask me either.”

K-Stew’s opinion on Cannes’ strict dress code was shared by actress Emily Blunt, who said the festival’s ban on flat shoes was “very disappointing.”

“Everyone should wear flats, to be honest,” Blunt said. “We shouldn’t be wearing high heels anyway. That’s my point of view.”

Even red carpet veteran Julia Roberts ditched her heels at Cannes in 2016 at the premiere of Money Monster.

To be honest, if I were Kristen Stewart, Julia Roberts, Emily Blunt, or anyone famous enough to be walking a red carpet, I’d be sick of the sexist dress codes and the heels, too. Give me sneakers over those ankle breakers any day.
