Kim Kardashian only celebrated the release of her brand new ‘Kimoji’ fragrances on Wednesday, and she’s already facing a lawsuit over one of them.
Three new fragrances went live on her website on Wednesday, and all of them reference Kimojis that are available in her Kimoji app (typing this is making me realise just how big her empire is, and it’s somewhat terrifying), but it’s the ‘Vibes’ perfume that’s causing a stir.

According to court documents obtained by The Blast, Vibes Media is claiming Kim copied their logo, which was trademarked in 2012.
Vibes Media, as you undoubtedly know, is a mobile marketing company, which basically means their website features a lot of buzzwords.
Vibes Media is arguing that Kim’s company “has been marketing, promoting, and is now selling a Vibes perfume. The Vibes perfume comes in a bottle that is a close facsimile of the Registered Vibes Logo.”
Both Kim’s ‘vibes’ emoji and perfume and the company’s logo feature the word ‘vibes’ written inside a speech bubble, but that is where the similarities end. The logo is white text on a blue background, where Kim’s is white text with a colourful drop shadow on a black background.
The company also claims Kim has been using their logo to promote her product, because obviously someone as famous as Kim needs the assistance of a logo belonging to a company nobody’s heard of to get the word out about her perfume.

I’m obviously not a lawyer, nor am I a Kardashian stan, but I’d be fascinated to see what damage Vibes Media can claim was done to their brand here – if anything, this lawsuit has given them media coverage unlike any they’ve seen before (and yes, I know we’re contributing to it).
The Kardashians have a magnificent knack for knocking down anyone that stands in their way, so this lawsuit might be lucky to last as long as the scent of Vibes in an elevator.
