Kevin Spacey was one of many high profile men in Hollywood to be accused of sexual harassment and assault last year during the initial wave of the #MeToo movement.
He was removed from his lead role in House of Cards as a result of the controversy, which was a satisfyingly proactive way to address a problem that has historically gone without punishment.
And it looks like the industry and general public is staying resolute in a refusal to support Spacey, causing his most recent film to rake in all of $126 US on its opening day.

The film, Billionaire Boys Club, a true-crime drama which also stars Ansel Elgort and Taron Egerton, only opened in 10 cinemas across America on Friday and the box office results are unsurprisingly a record low for Kevin Spacey.

While it’s obviously great that people have clearly withdrawn their support from Spacey after he was accused of sexual assault, the downside is that this is yet another way that his choices have damaged people around him.
All that money invested, all that hard work from the crew and the other actors for nothing….

The other actors, producers and entire crew to work on this movie lose out because of Kevin Spacey. That doesn’t mean we should be supporting a film starring an alleged sexual predator, but it is just important to see how deep the consequences run.
