Julie Andrews Was Too 'Stoned' To Star In 'The Wolf Of Wall Street'

"I was so truly stoned."

Dame Julie Andrews has revealed she had to turn down a role in The Wolf of Wall Street because she was too “stoned” and if you’re very confused, don’t worry, so am I.

In a recent interview on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, Julie revealed she was up for the role of Aunt Emma, a relative of Margot Robbie’s Naomi, who helped Leonardo DiCaprio’s Jordan hide some of his money in Swiss banks. The role ultimately went to Joanna Lumley who made it her own.

“I had an operation. I’m a bionic woman. I have a titanium ankle. I was so truly stoned from all the drugs that I had to take just to take the pain away,” Andrews revealed.

So, the drugs helped her recover from her surgery, but didn’t really set her up to star in the (simulated) debauchery in the film.

Let’s be honest though, Andrews isn’t exactly someone we really want to see in a film like The Wolf of Wall Street, where the character admits to drug use – I mean, to so many of us she’s still the Queen of Genovia (or one of her other classic characters if you prefer).

Speaking of the Genovia, she also revealed on the show she’s interested in doing The Princess Diaries 3, but hasn’t heard anything about it yet.

“I think if it happens it will be lovely and if it doesn’t, I wouldn’t have known about it,” she told the host.

The actress also spoke to Entertainment Tonight about the possibility of a third movie.

“If [Anne Hathaway] would like me to be then [yes]… I don’t think the script’s even been written,” she said.

“Think of how many years it’s been since that came out. And she’s a busy lady. And I’ve been a busy lady. Getting it all together… but in this magical business, you never know.”

Hathaway has previously revealed on Watch What Happens Live that there is indeed a script for the film, “There is a script for the third movie. I want to do it. Julie wants to do it. Debra Martin Chase, our producer, wants to do it. We all really want it to happen.”

“It’s just we don’t want to unless it’s perfect because we love it just as much as you guys love it. It’s as important to us as it is to you, and we don’t want to deliver anything until it’s ready, but we’re working on it.”

Hell. Yes.
