Is Joaquin Phoenix's Nickname For Fiance Rooney Mara A Hint At Their Kinky Sex Life?

Or it could just be Joaquin Phoenix being Joaquin Phoenix.

Joker star Joaquin Phoenix and Rooney Mara have been a couple longer than most people realise and so it’s pretty natural to expect them to have cutesy nicknames for each other. As it turns out, Joaquin’s pet name for Rooney is less cute and more “oh, they definitely have a kinky sex life.”

Commodus approves of this.

After receiving the People’s Choice Award at the Toronto International Film Festival for Joker, Joaquin gave a shout out to Rooney in his acceptance speech (via Us Weekly):

“One last thing, somewhere here, I don’t know where, is a filthy dragon, and I want to rip its wings off and fasten a blanket and sleep with it forever. I love you. Thank you.”

Uh, what?

A “filthy dragon?”

It’s definitely a reference to Rooney’s famous role as Lisbeth Salander in The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo but where does the “filthy” part come in?

And why on earth does Joaquin want to “rip its wings off and fasten a blanket and sleep with it forever?” That sounds a bit unsavoury.

Daenerys disapproves of this.

We’re not going to pretend to know what goes on in their relationship since they’re super private with their personal lives and they’re definitely within their right to not reveal anything.

But one can’t help but think that this whole “filthy dragon” thing is a glimpse into what is presumably an incredibly kinky sex life. If Joaquin’s comfortable calling Rooney by that nickname out in public, imagine what he calls her when they’re in bed.

There’s also the possibility that we’re reading too much into this “filthy dragon” name and it’s nothing more than Joaquin Phoenix doing his usual Joaquin Phoenix schtick.

Either way, here’s the big question: If Rooney Mara is “filthy dragon,” what on earth is Joaquin’s nickname? If we go by the established naming convention, it’s probably going to be something like “creepy psycho clown” or “seedy Jesus.”

Millie Bobby Brown Wrote A Fanfic And Netflix Gave Her A Movie Deal, Hbu?

Time to dust off all those Twilight scribbles from high school and call up Netflix.

Since Stranger Things 4 won’t be hitting Netflix anytime soon, Millie Bobby Brown has plenty of time on her hands and she’s decided to spend it by writing some fanfiction and uh, *checks notes* turning it into a movie.

Recreation of the movie’s development process.

According to The Wrap, the Stranger Things star will be developing and producing a film for Netflix based on an original fanfiction story she wrote with her older sister.

Titled A Time Lost, the film revolves around a long-standing feud between two Long Island families that escalates when one of the teenage daughters is diagnosed with cancer.

That… sounds like a pretty intense story to come out of the brain of a 15-year-old teenage girl. At least it’s not Twilight.

Okay, we’re getting too judgy about the whole “Millie Bobby Brown wrote some fanfiction and is making a movie out of it” thing so let’s look at it pragmatically.

Yes she and her older sister wrote a story that seems to be well beyond her years, but the film’s actual script will be written by Anna Klassen so there will be an experienced writer onboard to make sure the project isn’t just some scribbles from the diary of a teenager.

Besides, Netflix wouldn’t be giving MBB a movie deal like this without ensuring she is surrounded by people to help make it not suck so let’s not give it the doom and gloom treatment (yet).

Producing and writing a movie isn’t easy, let alone doing it when you’re 15, so the fact that she’s doing it at all is quite remarkable.

Let’s also not forget the fact that Millie Bobby Brown is only 15. That’s an age where it’s typical to broaden your horizons and to fail and succeed and a bunch of things so let’s just see how this all pans out.

Marvel Royally Screwed DC's Casting Plans For The New Batman Film

Certainly no shortage of hurdles for Matt Reeves' Batman film.

Matt Reeves is trying awfully hard to get his solo Batman movie off the ground but it’s proving harder than expected. And if a mega juicy scoop is to be believed, Marvel played a bit of a part in these headaches for Reeves and DC because of their Phase 4 MCU plans for Blade.

According to Collider‘s Jeff Sneider’s podcast, The Sneider Cut, Oscar winner Mahershala Ali was apparently the “top choice” for Reeves and DC to play Commissioner Jim Gordon in the upcoming Batman flick, even meeting with Reeves for the role.

Presumably this meeting took place on the top of a rooftop while skylights with the Bat symbol were blasting into the night sky.

Now Ali joining the DC Extended Universe as Batman’s important ally would’ve been awesome but Marvel royally screwed DC and Reeves’ big plans by casting him as Blade.

While it is possible for actors to stick their fingers in both the MCU and DCEU pies – just ask Laurence Fishburne and Zachery Levi – it doesn’t look like Ali will be double-dipping as Sneider says the actor isn’t looking to “do yet another comic book movie” now that he’s got his own Marvel movie franchise to lead.

It doesn’t just apply to food.

It’s quite the first world problem situation we’ve got here – one which should be taken with a mountain of salt – but if it all is true, we certainly don’t blame Ali for choosing Marvel over DC here.

Why play second fiddle to Batman in a Robert Pattinson flick when he can be Blade in his own Marvel franchise and have “Mahershala Ali is Blade” in big letters on posters everywhere?

But don’t feel bad for DC and Reeves as there are plenty of other great actors out there who would make a great Jim Gordon.

Maybe we’ll get to see J.K. Simmons back in the role. He’ll probably want to have another crack at the character after the travesty that was Justice League.
