J-Law's 'Haunted' Wedding Venue Makes Her Seem Even Less Relatable

Couldn’t have chosen a vineyard like everyone else?

As you all most certainly know by now, Jennifer Lawrence tied the knot with art gallery director Cooke Maroney over the weekend.

It was a star-studded event, that apparently ran until the wee hours of the morning with Lawrence and Maroney reportedly partying until 5:30 am. …(That’s my kind of wedding!)

Anyway. The festivities were lovely. Everyone looked beautiful (probably). Celebs like Adele and Sienna Miller were in attendance. It was all very sweet and nice, blah, blah, blah.

The real reason we’re interested in the event is the fact that it was hosted at a (formerly) haunted mansion.

As in ghostly presences. You know, supernatural sh*t.

As Vulture shares, Belcourt of Newport – the Rhode Island property where the wedding was held – once ran ghost tours through the estate.

It was mighty haunted at one stage.

Apparently, though, once the current owners took over the cottage, they spent a good chunk of time getting rid of the spooky locals.

Vulture shares that owner Carolyn Rafaelian spoke to The New York Times in 2013 about the process:

“There were energies and entities, some not pleasant. I had a shaman perform ceremonies. We did a major cleansing, energy-wise,” she said.

“There was a lot of heaviness, but we took care of that. Now the house has a different vibration.”

So, yeah. A literal shaman had to come into the property to sort out the nasty otherworldly presences. Nothing says romance quite like that, hey?

This is all completely normal.

While I’m personally surprised that anyone showed up at all – I would not go anywhere near a haunted mansion – I think the greatest learning we can take from this is that Jennifer Lawrence might like pizza and Honey Boo Boo, but she’s not quite as relatable as we all think she is.

But hey, you do you, girl! I’m sure it was a magical night.
