If you’re like the kind of person who would like nothing more than a ‘cork yoga mat’ or an air fryer as a wedding gift, you and Jennifer Lawrence are going to be best buds – and you’re also insanely unrelatable.
J-Law recently revealed her Amazon wedding-registry guide in the lead-up to her nuptials, and look, I’m confused to say the least.
The first part of her guide is for “hosting and happy hours.” According to Lawrence, this bit of the guide includes just a “few favourite party essentials” like a $173 ‘copper fondue set,’ a ‘marble cheese slicer’ and a wine carafe with ‘oak stopper.’ Just the essentials, right Jen?
Some other rather interesting items on J-Law’s registry guide include a $381 gravity blanket “for sleep, stress and anxiety,” a $688 ‘robot mop’ and a travel adaptor – because Jen couldn’t possibly pick one up for herself at the airport.
Is it just me or does this list of bizarre items make a once famously ‘relatable’ Jennifer Lawrence seem really, really polarising?
If this is the J-Law that trips on the red carpet, cracks inappropriate jokes and “looks like Gumby getting electrocuted” when she dances, wouldn’t we expect to see everyday items like a pressure cooker or a 10-piece knife set on her wedding registry?
Let’s be real: us mere mortals aren’t really going to ask our nearest and dearest to spend their hard-earned cash on a $300 sous vide, or $230 chef’s knife.
In all fairness, Lawrence’s wedding registry guide is most probably a paid partnership with Amazon, and it’s actually all in the name of a good cause – Amazon Conservation, “which unites science, innovation, and community to protect the Amazon rainforest.”
Perhaps it’s worth putting up with Lawrence’s list of obscure wedding gifts if it means positive environmental change.
