It's Taken 13 Years But It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia Has Finally Reached Its Peak With A Pitch Perfect Recreation Of Seinfeld's Greatest Scene

Absolutely love how both Dennis and Mac are playing Jerry.

There was a period of time when It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia was described as “Seinfeld on crack”, which is pretty fitting since both shows featured a cast of unlikable characters getting up to antics purely for their own selfish reasons, except that Sunny takes things up to an extra level of depravity.

With Sunny‘s latest episode, “The Gang Does a Clip Show”, it appears that not only is the comparison more relevant than ever, the show has finally reach its peak after 13 years on the air.

During the episode, the Gang are waiting for their phones to update and so they reminisce about their past adventures (hence clip show), only for us to quickly realise that something is up. One of these “adventures” is none other than a brilliant recreation of Seinfeld‘s best scene from its greatest episode, “The Contest”.

For those who need a refresher, here it is:

In the Sunny recreation of this Seinfeld scene, Dennis and Mac both play Jerry (both are good but Mac is better), Frank is George, Dee is Elaine, and Charlie is, unsurprisingly, Kramer.

What unfolds is a near beat-for-beat reenactment of the scene, and it is just brilliant. The Gang may be deplorable but they definitely know how to replicate scenes. Hell, everything from the character mannerisms (Charlie’s slapping of his money onto the counter is just exquisite) right down to the detailed set is pitch perfect.

It’s kind of crazy that after 13 years, 100+ episodes, and several body transformations from star and creator Rob McElhenney, It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia is still able to produce gold like this.

If Seinfeld is going to be a recurring theme, then I hope the Gang recreates “The Chinese Restaurant” in its entirety.
