PSA: Don't Bring Your Kids To See That Horror Film 'Midsommar' Or This Will Happen

Mature audiences only.

If you managed to sit through the 2018 horror film Hereditary and avoided having nightmares (that makes one of us) then there’s a good chance you’ll be keen on seeing Midsommar, an upcoming release from the same director.

According to IMDb, Midsommar is about “a couple who travels to Sweden to visit a rural hometown’s fables mid-summer festival.”

“What begins as an idyllic retreat quickly devolves into an increasingly violent and bizarre competition at the hands of a pagan cult.”

It’s got cults, it’s got violence, and it sounds like it’s got all the traits of a really good, really terrifying film. It also sounds like it’s not for everyone, particularly kids. Just take it from this little guy, who was filmed *literally* running out of the theatre during a screening of the film.

Midsommar is rated R for “disturbing ritualistic violence, grisly images, strong sexual content, graphic nudity, drug use and language,” so I’m not entirely surprised that this little kid wasn’t keen on hanging around. But this video begs a bigger question: why would you ever bring your kid to a movie like this!? Did they think it was some sort of Little House on the Prairie remake?

The Twitter user who posted the video later added that the kid ran out “right after the big sex scene too.” This is extremely relatable – we’ve all had to endure the excrutiatingly awkward moment of watching a movie sex scene with our parents. Other Twitter fans who have seen Midsommar said they “couldn’t believe” the little boy had even lasted that long.

Clearly Midsommar is for mature audiences only.
