8 Internet Boyfriends We Hope Don't Get Cancelled In 2020

We must keep these angels at all costs.

In light of last year’s #MeToo movement, and the celebrity scandals that followed, it feels like every high profile man is either already cancelled, or one misstep away from being cancelled.

However, this year, the Internet has blessed us with multiple boyfriends. I’m talkin’ about those special celebrity guys who are charming, handsome, talented, hilarious, don’t take themselves too seriously, and most importantly – haven’t been called out for any major career-cancelling behaviour.

Here are 8 Internet boyfriends we’re seriously hoping don’t get cancelled in 2020:

1. Keanu Reeves

After various roles in John Wick, Netflx’s Always Be My Maybe and Toy Story 4, Keanu Reeves’ status at the Internet’s fave boyfriend of 2019 was well and truly cemented. However, it’s not just Reeves’ on-screen charm that won us over, it’s his real life chivalry as well.

Reeves gives up his seat on public transport, organises shuttles for stranded passengers, waits in line for his own wrap party, makes us cry with his thoughts on life and death and never inappropriately touches women while taking photos. What a GEM.

2. Tom Hanks

With a career spanning over 40 years, we’re all familiar with the talent of Tom Hanks. Despite all the media attention and accolades, Hanks is still well-known as “the nicest guy in Hollywood.”

He’s friends with everyone, he sends gifts to his fans and answers fan mail, has an utterly delightful Instagram presence, and he’s been happily married to fellow actor Rita Wilson for over 30 years. What a guy.

3. Troye Sivan

It’s a good thing Troye Sivan started out in Australia because we can’t stop claiming him as our own – he’s so damn likeable. The 24-year-old singer is insanely talented, but he’s also a beautiful soul.

He’s in constant contact with his loyal fanbase, he isn’t afraid to voice his opinion on important issues affecting the LGBTQIA+ community, he loves his family and he’s got immaculate style. Need I say more?

4. Timothee Chalamet

Little Timmy Chalamet is relatively new to our group of Internet boyfriends, but he deserves a spot just as much as anyone else.

At just 23 years old, Chalamet has shown off his acting chops in incredible films including King, Call Me By Your Name and the upcoming Little Women. He’s also completely unafraid of being himself, dancing in the street with fans and speaking about vulnerability.

5. Henry Golding

Henry Golding is perhaps best known for his roles in Last Christmas and Crazy Rich Asians, but he’s also quickly becoming one of the Internet’s most beloved BFs.

A lot of people don’t know that as well as being an actor, the 31-year-old British Malaysian is a trained hair stylist. He’s also incredibly proud of where he comes from and often champions conversations about LGBTQIA+ rights, the #MeToo movement and asian representation in Hollywood.

6. Michael B. Jordan

Michael B. Jordan almost broke the Internet with his shirtless scene in 2018’s Black Panther – but the 32-year-old actor is loved for much more than his handsome looks.

Jordan is a feminist who was “raised by strong women” and loves supporting them, he loves his family (and kids), he cares about climate change and his production company Outlier Society aims to provide career opportunities for people of colour and from diverse backgrounds.

7. Chris Evans

As much as I appreciate all the famous Chris’s out there, Chris Evans might just be the best. Evans is as tough as nails when he plays Captain America, but beneath the shield he’s a real sweetheart.

The actor proved that chivalry is not dead by giving Regina King a hand at the 2019 Academy Awards, he adores his family (and dogs), he’s goofy as all hell, and he’s spoken out about all kinds of issues including climate change, veteran suicide prevention and ALS.

8. Dev Patel

Dev Patel has come a long way since he was the skinny kid in Slumdog Millionaire. The 29-year-old actor won our hearts in films like Lion and the new Amazon series Modern Love, and how could we forget his introduction with co-star Sunny Pawar at the 2017 Golden Globes!?

Add to that the fact that Patel respects his mama and understands how trivial awards shows and the entertainment industry can be and yep, he’s a bona fide Internet boyfriend.
