There's A Huge Mistake In Hobbs And Shaw That We Can't Just Ignore

It's just way too ridiculous...

When watching a Fast & Furious movie you understand that what you’re watching is pretty damn farfetched.

What started with street crews stealing DVD players has somehow morphed into saving the world, but fans love the movies no matter how crazy they get.

But there’s one thing that we can’t ignore.

In the new F&F spinoff, Hobbs & Shaw, we meet the families of Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson and Jason Statham’s characters Luke Hobbs and Deckard Shaw.

Vanessa Kirby joins the cast as Shaw’s sister Hattie, a total badass who steals every scene she’s in.

But the thing that’s bothering us and many fans of the film, is the fact that Kirby is 31 years old and Statham is 52, making them 21 years apart in age. Now, it’s not crazy to have siblings who are 21 years apart, especially when they’ve got a brother, Owen Shaw, played by Luke Evans who is 40-years-old.

Helen Mirren plays the Shaw matriarch Magdalene “Queenie” and she’s 74, so that all makes sense – she would have been 22 when she had Deckard, 34 when she had Owen and 43 when she had Hattie. It’s all possible.

However, one thing that isn’t possible? The fact that in the movie, Shaw and Hattie are seen in flashbacks as young kids together carrying out cons. How would that be remotely possible if there’s a 21-year age gap?

In the movie, the pair appear to be around 10 years old with barely a few years between them as they perform pranks on the other kids in the neighbourhood.

Yeah, I don’t think it’s possible to suspend my disbelief THAT much.

Many fans took to Twitter to share their thoughts on the matter:

Once you see it, it’s pretty difficult to unsee it! Let’s be honest, though, every movie could use a dose of Vanessa Kirby, so we kind of get it.
