The hype for the upcoming remake of the Hellboy franchise has mainly revolved around a potent love for Stranger Things’ David Harbour playing the big red half-demon, and I can confirm that that remains the case.

Now we’ve finally got an actual trailer to lust after, and while the general quality of the Neil Marshall-directed film may not look on first impression to be shaping up to the original glory of Guillermo del Toro’s Hellboy movies, Harbour is truly enigmatic, so whatever.
In the new take, Hellboy “prepares to stop an ancient medieval sorceress who seeks to destroy all of mankind.” There’s secret headquarters and people with guns and Hellboy’s giant right hand and at one point he even has a floating crown made of fire. It’s epic. Get this man an Oscar.
“It’s not an origin story, but it’s his coming to terms with where he came from,” Harbour recently told EW. “He’s been Hellboy for a long time, but there’s a new turn of events at the start of the film, where people start to bring up the fact that he might bring about the end of the world, and it’s really the first time he’s heard anything like that. The question that comes up in the movie is where does he really belong?”
The movie also stars Milla Jovovich as Nimue, the villain trying to destroy humanity, Ian McShane as Trevor Bruttenholm – Hellboy’s adoptive father, Sasha Lane as Alice Monaghan – a woman with magical abilities, and Daniel Dae Kim as Ben Daimio – a military member of the B.P.R.D., the Bureau for Paranormal Research and Defense.
David Harbour is set to make his debut as the thicc red boi in April 2019 in the US, so hopefully Hellboy lands in Aus soon after.
