Hollywood Is Making A Film About The Women Who Broke The Weinstein Story And It Will Thankfully Focus On Their Work, Not Harvey Himself

It’s about time Jodi Kantor And Megan Twohey became household names.

This is one movie we’re looking forward to for all the right reasons.

After the Harvey Weinstein scandal broke in October last year, no one could have expected the revolution that was soon to follow.

Not only was Weinstein fired from the Weinstein Company – hundreds of actors and actresses came forward with their own tales of sexual abuse and intimidation at the hands of some of Hollywood’s heaviest hitters.

From Ashley Judd to Rose McGowan, the stories and decades-long kept secrets were harrowing examples of a toxic behind the scenes culture that had defined Tinseltown for years.

Ultimately, this movement paved the way for women across the world and within all industries to come forward with their own traumatic tales of workplace abuse.

Before long #metoo and #timesup were created, giving women and survivors a platform from which to seek help, support, guidance, and acceptance.

But none of this would have happened (or at least not happened so swiftly and powerfully) if not for The New York Times reporters, Jodi Kantor and Megan Twohey, who’s exposé on Weinstein revealed years of sexual harassment and abuse allegations of Hollywood’s most powerful figure.

Now the women themselves will be the stars of a new film set to document the life-changing work that lead to them breaking the scandal of the century.

While the Weinstein allegations won’t be the main focus of the film, the movie will emphasise the team of all-female journalist who “persevered through threats of litigation and intimidation, to break a game-changing story.”

It’s like the Woodward and Berstein “Watergate” scandal all over again.

Except, you know, Kantor and Twohey won a Pulitzer for their work… #justsayin.

The movie will be created with Brad Pitt’s production company, Plan B, and Megan Ellison’s company, Annapurna, that made Phantom Thread and Detroit.

Bring it on!
