A Free Harry Potter Mobile Game Is Here And Things Will Neville Be The Same

You can expecto (patronum) that it’ll be good.

Well, my plans are now set for the weekend. I’ll be doing what any self-respecting 22-year-old should: staying at home to play the new Harry Potter game on my phone.

The game, titled ‘Harry Potter: Wizards Unite,’ is from the creators of Pokemon Go-an, what is more, it’s free.

We expect it’ll have us running through the streets and either internally, or if you’re anything like me, externally yelling “expelliarmus.”

Look, it’s me.

Like Pokemon Go, it’s in the style of real-word augmented reality and includes many of the hit pokemon app’s central gameplay features.

The game situates its players in the Wizarding World, putting “magic in the hands of players worldwide,” according to the app’s description. You, as a player, become a wizard whose mission is to join forces with Harry and a new character, Constance Pickering, who both work at The Ministry of Magic.

Traces of magic have been sensed throughout the Muggle world and players have to clear them out.

You get access to a map showing location points for leaked magic. Once you’ve found it you cast various spells to get through to the ‘foundable’ (a magic artefact). The aim is to deliver these back to the wizarding world.

However, It’s hard to see the app sharing the same success as PokemonGo. Graphics-wise it just doesn’t compare, or maybe I’m just being picky because there’s nothing quite as cute as a Pikachu.

Nevertheless, it’s sure to be the next game-craze and, as a hardcore Rowling fan, I’m here for it.
