Since Australian comedian Hannah Gadsby stunned audiences with her deeply personal stand-up show ‘Nanette’, it has been at the top of the must-watch Netflix list for everyone and anyone. It’s emotional, it’s devastating and for most people, watching it involved crying. So much crying.

We can all rejoice in gratitude, because after receiving extreme levels of praise from nearly every person who watched it, Hannah Gadsby is following up the adoration for ‘Nanette’ with a memoir style book about the making of the stand-out show.
Ten Steps to Nanette is Hannah Gadsby’s first book and it’s going to expand on the sometimes-dark-sometimes-funny life experiences and creative process that brought Gadsby to realise she needed to quit comedy as she knew it.
Ballantine bought Hannah Gadsby’s first book, Ten Steps to Nanette, "a memoir that follows the funny and sometimes dark events of the Australian comedian’s life leading up to her realization that she had to quit comedy as she knew it."

“Hannah Gadsby always dreamt of being a cool kid but she had to accept that, just like her childhood dream of being a dog, “normal” isn’t always possible.” The description for the Australian release reads.
“In the vein of David Sedaris, Hannah’s memoir is a string of stories that draws together the varied funny and sometimes dark events of her life, compelling readers to understand the damage society can visit upon those (like Hannah) who find themselves on the outside.”
“There is nothing stronger than a broken woman who has rebuilt herself.” @Hannahgadsby #Nanette

The book is set to be released in Australia next year by Allen & Unwin, and according to New York Times reporter Alexandra Alter, it’s also been bought by American publisher Ballantine to follow up the international success of Nanette.
So prepare to adore Hannah Gadsby even more (if that’s possible?) and let her wisdom shake us all to our core.
